Before traveling out of home for travel photography or on a holiday, congregate all the necessary photography equipments required for the shoot. One must not try to keep each and every equipment or additional lenses, and accessories, but make sure you take along those equipments, which would help you to cover most of the situations.
Holiday checklist
- Firstly, it is important to check the batteries of the camera. Always keep the spare with you, because at some places it might get difficult for you to find the batteries you require. If a camera requires chargeable batteries, be sure that you keep the charger along.
- Keep one or two zoom lenses; they will insure most of the required focal lengths and will also save the space and weight that other lenses would take.
- Two separate camera bodies will help in saving time involved in changing the lenses. One camera can have 28-80mm lens while other could be fitted with a 100-300mm lens or depending on the type of shots you want to capture.
- Black and white film in one camera and colored in the second one could be considered. You can also try loading one with the slower film and other with the fast film.
- Always purchase camera films from a reliable supplier. Many a times, films turn pout to be faulty which in turn damages the pictures.
- One or two filters can also be taken along; to bring about a little warmth in pictures, 81 A would be appropriate while polarizing filter will enhance the character of sea and sky whereby trimming of the undesired reflections. A graduated density filter helps in balancing different areas in an image that requires varied exposures. Thus, one can choose the filters depending on the kind of shot required. Make sure that in limited number of filters, you can cover most of the subjects while traveling.
- A flashgun is good in the situations of low light as well as a fill-in light, in the conditions of bright sun. Make sure that you keep the fresh batteries along.
- A small portable reflector is a plus, especially for taking portraits.
- It is always beneficial to carry a tripod with a cable release. If the tripod is very heavy, one can rather consider taking monopod.
- In the dusty or muddy locations, it is very essential to keep a blower brush and a lens cleaning tissue. Camera should be wrapped in a plastic bag to defend it against dust particles and also as a measure to protect it from adverse environmental conditions.
Take everything that you are plausible to require for a trip. One must keep the essential items like camera case, a variety of film, camera body with lenses, flash and filter equipments, for most of the trips.
Additional things can also be equipped if necessary for the nature and kind of the photography required. Do not forget to recheck everything before setting forth on your travels and yes , remember to carry spare batteries!
