Glamour photography in simpler words can be described as taking photographs of a model and highlighting the subject. Photographers make their best effort to bring forth the most appealing feature of a model with the help of lightning, cosmetics and airbrushing.
Over the time a lot of changes could be seen in the standards of glamour photography. In the 1920’s photographer Ruth Harriet of USA shot pictures of the renowned celebrities to append glamour to their prestigious stature. The aspect of glamour changed during the Second World War, and it was being exhibited in the frame of pin-ups of meagerly clothed film stars.
The major change in the world of glamour photography was seen with the emergence of Playboy, the primary magazine that influenced glamour photography. Playboy was the first and foremost magazine centering nude models and the aim was to target prevailing consumer. In December 1953, Hugh Hefner published the First release of playboy revealing Marilyn Monroe on the cover. Inside the magazine, nude photographs of Marilyn Monroe were seen, which raised her image and besides public vociferation was subjugated.
The techniques of glamour photography have continuously changed from time to time and it is important for any photographer to understand the change before treading into the professional field.

There are some important elements, for glamour photographers that need to be taken care of. Some of them are as follows:

A photographer must decide the right kind of place for shooting a model. For ex: - Using the light of early morning can add on to extra warmness on the skin.

Choose a willing model for glamour photography because a model’s expression and attitude contributes a lot for successful glamour photography.

A photographer must understand that it is not always important to add sharpness to glamour images. Many photographers use filter to neutralize the image to but the true sense of photography comes only with good practice.

It is important to balance the light effects avoiding bright highlights or profound shadows. Scheme the exposure according to the situation to achieve ideal body tones.

Background is also a crucial element in glamour photography. Lack of correct background sense can destroy the photograph even if everything else is precisely done.
