Soon, various couturiers and fashionistas realized the importance of fashion photography and by 1884, the application of fashion photographs broadened to consider catalogs.

In the early years of 20th century, Baron de Meyer, brought forth some of the very artistic and pleasing shots created with the help of soft focusing and backlighting. Photographers like Cecil Beaton and George Hoyningen-Huene expended props in their shots. Other photographers, Irving Pen and John French produced images that aroused their love for women. Many other photographers also experimented with different things and created many inspiring photographs in the field of fashion.
