Fashion photographers

Fashion photography has made a large impact in the fashion world. Fashion photography would not have been promoted in the lack of its commercialization through various mediums like couturiers, fashion magazines and photography. In the enhancement of fashion photography, many photographers have made their great contribution. Some of them are as follows:

George Hoyningen-Huene(1900-1968)

George Huene was born to american and Baltic German parents in Russia in 1900. george was known as an originative fashion photographer of 1920’s and 1930’s. By 1925, Huene was successful in making up his way towards the photography for French Vogue.
In 1935, george shifted to new york where he worked mainly for Harper’s Bazaar. before settling himslef to Hollywood, he released two art guides on Egypt and Greece. In hollywood george gained a lot of recognition by taking glamourous  portraits of famous film celebrities.
Huene’s work reflects beautiful texturing in black and white which is very arely found in coeval work. Some of his famous publishes can be seen in  Eye for Elegance and  The Photographic Art of Hoyningen-Huene.

Cecil Beaton (1904-1980)

Cecil Beaton was born in January 1904 in London. He was known to be a portrait and fashion photographer. Besides, he was also a costume designer for theatre and films. Beaton had a charm for glamour, theatre and worlds of high society. He transmuted beauty into romance, fantasy, charm and elegance.
Besides shooting celebrities and filmstars from Hollywood, Beaton has also worked as a staff photographer for Vogue and Vanity fair. Beaton was never considered as a high technical photographer, but he was always focused on arranging a commanding scene or model and creating a perfect moment. Some of his renowned photographs are  Bomb Victim( 1940), Elizabeth II's Coronation( 1953), Dame Edith Sitwell (1956) and Audrey Hepburn( 1964).

 Irving Penn


Irving penn was born in june 1917 in new jersy. He is known cheifly for his fashion photography, but he work showcases an highly unusual  vision and a variety of subjects.
Penn  has been famous for his diverse styles of photography where fashion and style portraits plays a chief role.he has done fashion photography with Vogue for quite many years. He was among those first photographers who shot his subject among bare white and gray backgrounds.
 Famous books by pen are Drawings (1999), The Work of Issey Miyake (1999), Still Life (2001), Photographs of Dahomey (2004).

Baron De Meyer

He was born in 1868 in France. He was recognized as the founding father of fashion photography. After marrying to professional beauty, Olga Caracciolo in 1899, he was introduced to the eminent levels of society. After getting a place in this social status, he was competent to photograph many renowned celebrities around him. He brought forward many pleasing and artistic shots created with the use of backlighting and soft focusing.

His photographs were revealed in Alfred Stieglitz’s Camera Work in 1908. Later he also worked for Harper’s Bazaar and American Vogue.
