Ansel Adams (1902-1984)
He was born in San Francisco in 1902 and resided in Carmel till his death in 1984. Ansel Adam was highly known for his photography. Irving Penn
Another famous name in the field of photography is of Irving Penn. He was born in 1917 in Plainfield. Penn has been renowned for his various photography styles where life style portraits and fashion photography forms a major part. Penn has done fashion photography for vogue magazine for quite a longer time. Penn has also worked for magazines like Saks Fifth Avenue and Harper's Bazaar. He is known to be among the first photographers who impersonated subject in contrast to a simple white and gray backdrop. “Cuzco Children" was one of his well-known works that sold for around $175,000.
Herman Leonard
Born in 1923 in Allentown, PA has been famous for taking eminent pictures of jazz legends. Leonard was known to be one of the most dynamic photographers of his time. He often used to travel with big entertainers like Marlon Brando. The popular works of Herman Leonard are the photographers of majuscule jazz legends like Frank Sinatra, Louis Armstrong, Dexter Gordon, Miles Davis and Duke Ellington.
Jock Sturges
Born in 1947 in the great city of New York, the photographer is currently living in Seattle, Washington. Jock Sturges has presented beautiful work of nude women on beaches. "Northern California, 1991 and "Misty Dawn 1991" are some of the popular images showing beach nudes. The most expensive publishing of Jock Sturges was sold for $4,000.
