Multiple Exposure

The act of taking multiple pictures on the same set of film is called multiple exposures. Exposing the same film more than once creates multiple pictures. The technique can help in creating many unusual images and can produce striking effects.

While taking a multiple image, one must remember that in such cases light subject field will appear on dark areas. Subject must be frame accordingly such that the dark area is positioned where subsequent image has light subject, or vice-versa. Multiple exposures are not suitable in the conditions where the light area is in large amount. Planning is thus, very important for creating an effective multiple exposure
While making multiple exposure on a single piece of frame, always set the right exposure, else the film will get overexposed. In Some cameras, this can be automatically achieved with the help of auto-exposure and on others it can be manually adjusted.

Opening and closing of camera shutter, makes it possible to capture the technique of multiple exposure. Another way of capturing multiple exposures is with the use of multiple frames.

Multiple exposure helps in creating different effects in the image. Experimenting with the zoom setting in the camera, adjusting different Camera movements, exploring various exposures are some of the ways that can be used to create interesting effects in multiple exposures.
