PARTS OF A CAMERA:

LENS- The part of the camera which draws light into it and focuses it on the film.

SHUTTER - It’s open and shut decides the time for which the light is allowed to enter the camera and strike the film.
There are two types of shutters:
A leaf shutter, located between or just behind the lens elements, and
A focal plane shutter, located in front of the film plane.

SHUTTER RELEASE - The button that controls the shutter mechanism of the camera through its release.

APERTURE - It is the hole whose expansion and contraction decides the amount of light which enters into the camera through the lens and strikes the photosensitive surface.
It is controlled by the f-stop ring.

VIEWFINDER - The "window" through which the photographer looks to frame the required picture.

FILM REWIND KNOB - This knob rewinds the film back into the film cassette.

CAMERA BODY - Holding and enclosing structure of the camera parts is the body of the camera.

FLASH SHOE – The part of the camera body where the flash is attached.

SELF-TIMER - This function facilitates the photographer himself to be a part of the picture.
The time after which the shutter is tripped can be set by the photographer - allowing everyone to be in the photograph.

SHUTTER SPEED CONTROL - This controls the length of time for which the shutter remains open after clicking the shutter release button. This can be adjusted by the photographer as per the requirement of the pictue. Generally, shutter speeds are measured in fractions of a second, for example: 1/30, 1/60, 1/125, 1/250, 1/500 and 1/1000 of a second.
